My role: Sole Programmer
New Pong+ was pc game developed during my degree and was created by a team of 3, two designers, and one programmer (me).
This game was created with the main idea of having to link the game to retro games in 3 different ways, as a team we decided to do 3 different retro games in one with the idea that you’re a pong ball that escapes pong and has to escape through all the different retro games.
Level 1 (Pacman)
Level one was created to be played as a third-person PacMan, you follow the same rules as Pacman and you have three lives. Ghosts spawn around the map that chases you down. If you find the power-up point you can kill the ghosts for a certain amount of time. The goal of this level is to collect points until you have collected the amount you need. The amount you need is dependent on what difficulty you chose. Once you collect the points you are dropped into the Tetris level.

Level 2
Level two is the Tetris level. This level is a platformer where you have to traverse through the obstacles to reach the end. In this level, both static and moving blocks try to hit you into the void to kill you. If you fall off you are reset to the most recent checkpoint. Once you complete this level you fall into the next level.
Level 3
Level three is the final level and consists of a Donkey Kong replica game except in 3D. You run up the ramps and the ladders to make it to the top. As you make your way to the top you must dodge the barrels and fireballs that are constantly making their way down. There are hammers that you can collect that can destroy these obstacles. Once you make it to the top you meet your fellow pong ball and you complete the game.

My Role
In the creation of New Pong+, my main role in the project was the programmer. However, the other two teammates were game designers so we had to also expand our skills to create models as well. I created the basic models like the Tetris pieces as well as the ladders and barrels. I also set up the UI involved in the game. My main part of the creation process, however, was the movement of the player, as well as the Navmesh movement. This came in form of the ghosts in the Pacman level, as well as the barrels and fireballs in the donkey kong level.
